In the textile industry, we often talk over digitalization and automation such as high-speed looms and digital printing technologies. But let’s be real: the true MVPs (Most Valuable Players) behind our elastic solutions are the people. For those just launching a fashion brand or stepping into this industry for the first time, the acronym SLCP might sound like a secret code. Don’t worry! Today, ECI is putting on its "professor hat" to walk you through a fun, easy-to-digest SLCP 101 Course.
To understand SLCP, you have to understand the "struggle" from the past. Imagine you are an excellent driver, but every time you rent a car from a different company, they make you take the driver's license test all over again.
This was the reality for textile factories: "Audit Fatigue." Historically, if a factory worked with 10 different global brands, they might face 10 different "social audits" in a single year. The factory would be drowning in paperwork, answering the same questions over and over, leaving little time to actually focus on improving employee well-being.
SLCP (Social Labor Convergence Program) was born to be that "Universal Driver's License."
The core concept is: "One Verification, Accepted Everywhere." A factory undergoes ONE standardized verification, and that single verified data set can be shared with almost ALL their brand partners. It frees us up to stop chasing paperwork and start weaving a better workplace.
This isn't a quick online quiz you can breeze through. It’s a rigorous, three-step "physical exam" for the factory's social health.
The SLCP process consists of three main stages:
1. Data Collection: Self-assessment by the factory.
2. Verification: On-site checks by accredited Verifier Bodies.
3. Data Sharing: Uploading to the SLCP Gateway for brands to access.
Let’s break it down:
Step 1. Self-Assessment (Data Collection/Self-Assessment) –
First, the factory has to look in the mirror. We log into the system and answer hundreds of detailed questions about labor rights.
Step 2. Verification – Detectives and Doctors
Just saying "we are great" isn't enough. It is required on-site of off-site Verification.
By selecting SLCP accredited third-party Verifier Bodies to the ECI facility floor. Think of them as corporate doctors:
【ECI's Perspective: The Corporate Doctors】
At ECI, we see these Verifiers as more than just inspectors; they are "Corporate Doctors." They aren't here to nitpick or purely find fault. Instead, they assist facilities in uncovering potential hidden risks. By offering concrete suggestions (prescriptions) for improvement, they guide the factory to progressively optimize processes, helping us build a management system that is more robust and efficient.
Step 3. Data Sharing – One Click to Rule Them All
Once verified, this fresh data report is uploaded to the SLCP Gateway platform.
From there, it’s like sharing a Wi-Fi signal. ECI can authorize global brands to access this single, verified report. The brands then use this data to score us based on their own benchmarks.

Newcomers often ask: "So, if SLCP is universal, does that mean once you have the report, you're done?" Not quite! This brings us to another key term: CLS (Code of Conduct/ Code Leadership Standards). While the data is universal, every brand has a different "passing grade" or focus area based on that data. Some brands prioritize fire safety and structural integrity, and some may focus on zero tolerance for chemical safety issues. At ECI, we don’t view these CLS requirements as restrictions. We see them as "Vitamins for our Factory's Constitution." It is a process of turning "Management by Person" into "Management by System."
For example:
We use these standards to transform vague "good intentions" into concrete, executable "systems," ensuring that no employee's rights are ever compromised by human oversight.
【ECI Takeaways: Employees’ First】
We believe that only happy craftspeople can weave products with heart.
For ECI, the annual SLCP verification isn't just about securing orders; it’s a "Physical Exam for our Happiness Index." It’s this mindset that we have been taught from our CEO: contributions from our co-workers are precious assets to our companies and foundation of ECI’s innovation and growth. In an era where machines are getting smarter, we insist on keeping the factory warm with human care. We strive to make our facility not just a production site, but a home where every employee feels safe, respected, and valued.
