You know how we all do that annual full-body checkup to see if our cardio is up or our cholesterol is down? Well, at ECI and among all our factories; we have our industrial version of a physical exam, and it’s called Higg FEM.

Quick Detour: Cascale, Worldly, and Higg FEM – What’s the relationship between them?

Before we dive in, let’s clear up the confusing names you might hear buzzing around the industry. Think of the relationship like a school exam:

• Cascale (formerly SAC): The "Board of Education." This is the global coalition that sets the standards and creates the framework.
• Worldly: The "Testing Center." This is the multi-tasking sharing platform where we actually log in to submit our data and track our performance.
• Higg FEM: The "Exam Paper." This is the specific environmental assessment tool created by Cascale and hosted on Worldly. So, when we say "ECI is Higg FEM verified," it means we aced the Higg FEM assessment created by Cascale, using the Worldly platform!

Higg FEM 101: What exactly is FEM?

For our friends launching new brands or just stepping into the textile world, "Higg FEM" might sound like just another acronym. However, simply to describe, it is the industry's most trusted "Environmental Performance Assessment Tool."
Think of the process like a rigorous "Annual Final Exam":

1. 7 Focused Areas: Factories must answer hundreds of questions covering 7 key areas, including Energy, Water, Waste, and Chemical Management.
2. Self-Assessment: We track and submit our environmental data for the entire year.
3. Third-Party Verification: it is the crucial step! An accredited verifier visits on-site to "check our homework" and ensure our data is 100% accurate.

So, this isn't just a certificate you can buy; it's a verified, deep-dive proof of our environmental capabilities.

From "Just Homework" to Self-Mastery: Local regulation > CLS > Systematization

On top of this annual FEM exam, besides compliance within local regulation,  many global brands have their own specific CLS requirements. Does that sound like endless paperwork?
