"Open width" refers to the total measurement of the elastic when it is laid completely flat. "Folded width" is the visible width of the trim once it has been applied to the garment edge. Our FOE is engineered with a precise central groove (or "hinge") that ensures it folds perfectly in half. For example, a 20mm Open Width tape will result in a 10mm Folded Width finish on the garment.
For activewear and high-sweat environments, we recommend Polyester/Elastane blends (such as our item 33H68-22R). Polyester offers superior resistance compared to Nylon, ensuring the elastic retains its color and recovery properties even after repeated heavy use.
Yes. We manufacture "plush" or brushed-back varieties specifically for intimate apparel and childrenswear. These tapes undergo a specialized finishing process that lofts the yarns on the inner-facing side, creating a soft, velvet-like texture that reduces skin irritation without compromising the elastic's grip or recovery.
Absolutely. Woven FOE is an excellent choice for stabilizing the edges of knit garments, such as necklines and armholes, to prevent them from stretching out of shape over time. The key is to select a woven FOE with a stretch percentage that complements your knit fabric (typically 110–140%) so it moves with the wearer while providing necessary structural support.
Puckering, often called "baconing," usually occurs when the elastic is stretched too aggressively during application. To prevent this, we recommend applying the FOE with neutral tension or very slight tension (3-5%) on straight edges. On curves, slightly higher tension is needed to help the elastic lay flat. Using a coverstitch or a 3-step zigzag stitch also allows for maximum flexibility without distorting the fabric.

We can manufacture FOE using Recycled Nylon (using post-industrial waste) or Recycled Polyester (sourced from rPET bottles), as seen in our item 33B07-20RN. Our elastics undergo a rigorous heat-setting and pre-shrinking process during finishing. Generally, our Polyester FOE is extremely stable with minimal shrinkage (typically <3%). Nylon FOE naturally has a slightly higher shrinkage rate due to the fiber's properties, but we stabilize this to industry standards (typically <5%) to ensure your garment measurements remain consistent after laundering.
